Ministerial commission formed to review commission report on persons killed in Maoist people’s war

Kathmandu, 18 April: Cabinet Sunday formed a five-member ministerial task force to review a report on a commission that investigated deaths and injuries of persons during the 10-year Maoist people’s war.
Ruling Nepali Congress Sunday demanded its activists killed and injured in the violent communist revolution be declared martyrs and be compensated.
The government decision and the demand of the Congress have added a new dimension to the resolution of demands of the victims of the war on both sides.
Attention so far has been focused mainly on compensating Maoist victims.

Four dead, more than 30 injured in Chitwan bus accident

Kathmandu, 1u April: Four persons were killed and at least 30 were injured, 12 seriously, in a bus accident at Rampur in Chitwan Sunday.
Two persons were killed and 14 others were injured in a tractor accident in Palpa Sunday.
Vehicular accidents on hill highways have become regular occurrences.
Authorities aren’t giving priority to curb them.

UML debate ends

Kathmandu, 18 April: Discussions at the UML parliamentary party meeting ended Sunday with 17 more lawmakers speaking Sunday.
PM Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman Jhalanath Khanal; and UML ministers will address concerns raised by 109 UML parliamentarians Monday.
A sizeable section of the party had demanded the resignation of PM Nepal to make way for a national government with Maoists.
