Maoists call of closure of boarding schools
Kathmandu, 29 April: Maoist students Thursday called off their five-day forced closure of boarding schools after 25 percent hike in admissions coinciding with the new academic year.
Schools are expected to re-open Friday.
Schools withdrew a decision to hike fees and implement a ‘scientific’ adjustment within 30 days.
An agreement was reached Thursday between schools, Maoist students and a three-member government negotiating committee formed Wednesday.

Supreme court orders not to implement decision to chiefs of constitutional bodies

Kathmandu, 29 April: Supreme court Thursday issued an interim order not to implement a decision of the constitutional council to appoint chiefs of four constitutional bodies and their deputies.
The decision of the council headed by Prime Minister Madhab Kumar Nepal and in which main opposition leader Maoist Chairman Prachanda was absent was challenged as illegal in the apex court on behalf of the chairman.

Kathmandu, 29 April: Lightings in Ilam and Pyuthan killed four persons in Ilam and Pyuthan Thursday.
Nepal has receiving pre-monsoon rains beginning wioth the annual rainy season.

ADMIRAL ROBERT F. WILLARD cautions restrains during Maoist demonstrations

Kathmandu, 29 April: U.S. Navy Admiral Robert F. Willard, Commander of the United States Pacific Command, concluded his official visit to Nepal Thursday, the US embassy said.
During the visit he met with senior Nepal Army officials, Defense Minister Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Home Minister Bhim Rawal.
During these meetings, he thanked them for Nepal’s valuable role in international peacekeeping missions, discussed human rights issues, and offered continued U.S. support for humanitarian assistance and disaster preparedness.
He also discussed the current political situation and reiterated the United States’ position that all parties should exercise restraint during the planned upcoming demonstrations and work to fashion a permanent peace through dialogue and constructive consultations.
